Longboat Key, FL – Quick Point Nature Reserve
When you make it to the southeast of Longboat Key, stop by the Quick Point Nature Reserve to enjoy beautiful lagoons and uplands across a 34-acre park. This nature reserve was developed to protect and re-establish vital habitats in Sarasota Bay’s wetlands severely damaged by urbanization.
You can explore several manufactured and natural lagoons at different depths and elevations. As you’re there, watch out for juvenile crabs, conchs, whelks, and plenty of small fish like black drums or mullets. Keep an eye out for wading birds like the Great American Egret, Snowy Egret, White Ibis, Great Blue Heron, and others. This reserve is also a great place to enjoy the numerous tidal pools, boardwalks, hiking trails, and scenic views.
